What's Up

1. Indoor Arena:

The Indoor arena at Sidney Hawk Equine is 136' by 72'. It has a 16' ceiling with LED lighting. The arena has a mason sand over compacted clay base.

It is equipped with a few permanent obstacles that can be swung out, turned on or set up with very little effort.

There are three large perimeter doors to the outside, two man doors and an access door to the equine foyer. (More about foyer below)

A ground level judge's booth on one end, doubling as a concession stand for 4-H events or homeschool tours. It has a commercial cooler, a chest freezer, serving window and we are adding dedicated 20-amp circuits for crock pots and cookers.

An overhead loge provides arena viewing from above and has been constructed to accommodating group meetings. It will be climate controlled and will have a complete kitchen for cooking and serving snacks. It will not be offered to the public at this time.

2. Foyer - Indoor Arena:

The Foyer is accessed off the Indoor arena. It is equipped with cross ties and an equine shower. Also, in our foyer is our Theraplate equine therapy unit.

We are making provisions for a commercial washing machine for horse blankets. (Watch for details in future updates.)

The Foyer also has a table and chairs with a viewing window for special events.

The Foyer has two exit doors leading to our stall areas. One where we keep our horses and a second leading to additional stalls used for visitors or emergencies. (Prior Authorization required)

Access to this foyer is for Theraplate users only after purchasing a therapy package. No access for shower or any other purpose without prior authorization. The sliding door should be kept closed.

3. Outdoor Arena:

Our newly constructed Outdoor Arena at Sidney Hawk Equine Horse Park is located East of the Outdoor arena. It is 35,000 sq/ft. or 130' x 270'

The footing is a combination compacted clay and concrete sand.

It has perimeter access on all 4 sides for setting up barrels and poles for practice and contesting events. An access gate for bringing in our tractor for dragging and obstacle setup during special events.

There is a run in for barrel patterns or staging for contestants doing rail events.

It will also be equipped with a timer for contesting events. (Coming in the spring 2025)

We are installing comfortable seating for an approx. 50 people audience for family and friends, with a dedicated wheelchair area. As well as additional areas for lawn chair seating.

A two-story outbuilding will be used for announcer's booth above and storage garage below for securing props when not in use. (Spring 2025)

A dedicated parking area immediately East of the Arena, along Rt. 93, next to Outdoor Arena has been provided for emergency vehicles to park and monitor events with unrestricted ingress and egress in case an emergency where to occur.

The four-board vinyl fence has been installed on the roadside of the Outdoor Arena for maximum safety to rider and horse, but reinforcement cable is being woven into the vinyl planks, so it wont be possible for horses to break through or a car to penetrate the perimeter in the event of an automobile accident. 3 board vinyl fences will be used on none traffic sides.

We have just about completed our outdoor stadium type lighting for the outdoor and will be adding a sound system in the spring 2025.

4. Confidence/Obstacle Course

A unique Horse Park feature of Sidney Hawk Equine horse park will be our choice of obstacles and props to keep your horse's attention. Relying on your instructions and confidence to encourage them to proceed.

You will have trenches to go through, steps to climb, obstacles to navigate. There will be water boxes to step into, bridges to cross, water falls to wow them.

We even have a railroad track system we are building to help expose them to features found along the "Rail to Trail" systems now offered to equestrians around the state.

Due to the variable elevation changes and area being developed, the audience viewing will be somewhat restricted or difficult.

Look for future Trail Obstacle competition events to develop.

5. Seating and Photography:

It is our personal goal to make this facility a family friendly event center. Bleachers are frowned upon at most outdoor events, so we secured individual ground level seats in groups or 2, 4 and 10 throughout the horse park for your family's convenience.

Raised platforms with handrails will be located throughout the park to access a better vantage point for pictures or videos. Adults only please. (Under Construction)

From time to time, events will have sponsors who have made the event possible. You can identify who in the community supports you and your kid's agricultural passion by the banners displayed around the perimeter of the event. It is no accident they are located for you to see them. Please make an effort to display those banners in your pictures you will post on social media to give them a little extra advertising. We should always support our local businesses who support our kids and events. Thank them in person when you patronize their businesses in the future.

6. Mini Trail System:

We started this Mini Trail System almost a decade ago when our 4-H club was invited to join another 4-H club's overnight camping trip. Our club was pretty much 100% indoor arena comfortable before this day and night. This for many was the first time their horses were ridden outside. The event, although exciting for Sidney, turned out to be a hot mess for some of the others. Comments like, "I'm never going to try this again," or "My horse does not like the outside world," seemed to echo through our clubs' comments.

We went home and immediately started to build a mini trail system, a trail system that would, in as compact an area possible, expose horse and rider to common trail obstacles. It was an immediate success, and we invited 4-H clubs from several local barns and counties to come and play at our farm.

It was like night and day, the difference two hours made in horse and rider confidence. When a horse was asked to go on, under or through something on our mini trail, they tried it. They would never have attempted it on their own, yet with encouragement from the rider or handler, they eventually tried it and were no longer afraid. Suddenly the rider or handler became their knowledge source or team leader and before long... they could attempt anything, with confidence.

This is what our Mini Trail system is all about. We prefer it to be a group experience and with weather conditions conducive to a safe trail ride.

The entire trail system is approximately a mile, and it is beautiful and loaded with opportunities to expose horses to wildlife such as deer, racoon, rabbits, a bobcat, fox, coyote, and other animals we've seen on our little mini trail system in the past.

7. 3 Acre Lake:

You may call it a lake or a pond... I call it my 3 acre aquarium. I have been grooming and caretaking this lake since I was a kid. Fifty years ago, it was a small pasture pond for livestock. Several negative effects occurred over the years, one even involving dynamite and a disgruntled distant neighbor over turtle trapping. All before my time.

As a kid, it was my favorite place to spend a day. I took it upon myself over the next 30 years, to upgrade it. I replumbed the overflow, raising the water level and flooding what is now about 3 acres. I added a few docks and a beach on each side.

I stocked it repeatedly with various fish to maintain a healthy fishing lake you could swim in, to a fancier lake with a beach, less algae and a picnic pavilion. Then Sidney came along, and we raised the bar a bit higher, added a playground. Then, because of some homeschool projects, it is now home to 15 five-foot paddle fish, many 4-foot white amur, and 4 massive sturgeon and a few Koa. The lake isn't quite the fishing hole it used to be, but still attracts a lot of wildlife and is still one of our families' favorite places to hang out,

It also makes a great place to take your horses for a toe dip, or a full out swim.

Please respect this area if you are fortunate enough to spend time there during your visit to Sidney Hawk Equine.

8. Parking, Ingress and Egress:

It is a fact; equine lovers come from different back grounds and have different skill sets trucking and trailering their horses. Don't let truck parking and trailer towing be a deterrent to not come visit us. We have made several parking adjustments to allow for drive in and drive out accessibility. I plan to post a map soon that will indicate just how to best navigate our parking lot, so you don't have to back up, yet your horse will off load at a convenient location to the park.

The North driveway is best for entering the property, and the south drive gives best views of the road north and south for you to safely pull out when exiting.

A new extended parking area was developed this summer and could park up to 20 trucks and trailers and keeping with our theme, it is drive in, and then drive out via a new perimeter driveway extension. No backing required.

We do ask that you figure on a minimum space between your truck and trailer combinations and those already parked. Tying your horse(s) off the back of your trailer rather than the side, will allow for more parking for future guests.

9. Picnic Area(s)

We have the lake pavilion for events centralized around that area. picnic tables in several locations around the Horse Park and some of the blue seating areas were specifically arranged for a picnic setting for a small family.

Future plans will include charcoal grills and tent sites for our overnight camping clinics we have planned.

Help yourself, please pack your trash out with you, leave no sign you were there.

We will from time to time, have a food vending truck on location. Currently at least 3 maybe four spots for food trucks. If these vendors are gracious enough to come for our events, please support them so we can have them back for future events.

There is also opportunities for hot dogs and coneys, chips and drinks at the indoor arena concession stand, at some events. Please consider these as fund raisers for whomever is having the event and support them as well.

10. Theraplate:

We do provide Theraplate therapy for those interested in giving your horse a treatment. Theraplate has proven to promote healing, better circulation, helps avoid muscle fatigue and so much more. Here are a few words from their web site.

"Theraplate systems use Vortex Wave Circulation Therapy to stimulate muscle contractions while your horse stands on a portable, heavy-duty plate. Theraplate use can speed recovery, help maintain bone density and muscle development during stall rest, and help treat chronic inflammation, soft tissue injuries, navicular syndrome, and help improve your horse's overall performance."

Contact us for a therapy plan that works for you and your horse.

11. Future Events:

We have lots of plans for lots of different clinics, shows, events and playtime. If you have a specific event or idea you'd like us to consider, please reach out to us.

Consider Sidney Hawk Equine Horse Park as our communities Agricultural Event Center.

12. Bathrooms:

At this time, we are providing public use Outhouses or Porta-Jons. We can add to the number of them as needs arise. At least one handicap toilet set next to the Indoor arena and parking area. We have a second handicap unit on location for portable needs and a standard Porta-Jon out near the outdoor arena for your convenience.

There are also outdoor hand wash stations located at various locations around the facility.

Please use provided trash containers for your trash. We have security cameras located around the property. If you're seen leaving trash at picnic and seating areas or parking areas via our video surveillance cameras... you may be refused reentry into any of our facility in the future. Set a good example for your kids by following rules.

13: Boarding:

At this time, no overnight boarding is being considered. In an emergency situation, we typically have a few stalls available. but we are not equipped for boarding or other people's horses.

14: Shots Vaccinations:

It is your responsibility, as a responsible pet owner to keep your horses properly vaccinated, wormed and disease free.

If it is discovered you brought a contaminated or sick horse or any animal to this facility, you will be banned for life. Do not make us enforce this issue.

Please keep in mind, your tack, boots even your truck tires and trailer conditions can spread unwanted disease to all farm animals. please be diligent at your precautions.

15. Dogs/Pets:

We are a dog family, we love our dogs and other pets. we get it... you want to bring them along. If you bring a pet, it must be on a leash.

It must be properly vaccinated.

It cannot be a threat to any people, other dogs or especially children unaware of dangers they can present.

You must clean up after your pet, If it poops, clean it up.

If it barks, make sure it's not near any competitors in such a way as to cause a distraction.

Be considerate of others, don't block doorways or make others inconveniently walk around you pet.

Don't feed your pets provided food or snacks for event participants. They were not intended as dog snacks for your pet.

The list can go on and on... Don't make me add to it... Be respectful.
