Byron & Luella Crofut Arena

Byron Crofut and Luella (Hawk) Crofut were born and raised here in Ohio. Byron grew up in Moffit Heights outside of Massillon and Luella moved on to this Hawk Farms as a teenager when her parents, my grandparents, Aaron & Odilla Hawk purchased the farm in 1947.

Byron and Lue married and moved to Florida as young adults and for the next 70+ years, made their mark in the Sarasota, Florida area operating Crofut Trucking and in local real estate. Byron and Lue spent many of their summers back here in Ohio, collecting antiques and visiting friends and relatives. They have been mentors of mine and Sidney as we watched their life as entrepreneurs flourish. 

Byron and Lue served on the Sarasota, Florida Fair board and were huge supporters of the 4-H program for much of their 70+ years they resided in Florida. Always contributing handsomely to the kids and their 4-H projects like no one else ever before or since. I could literally fill dozens of pages on this Internet with wonderful stories about having them in my life growing up, and how they have loved and supported Sidney in her quest to shine in this equine world.

The very property this Outdoor arena is built on, was Byron and Lue's piece of our Ohio farm and we purchased it a decade or so ago. 

In memory of Lue, she passed away at 91 a few years back, Byron wanted to do a little something to commemorate the love and respect we all had for her as his forever bride and our beloved aunt and Sidney's great aunt. He donated to the development of this Agricultural Event arena here at Sidney Hawk Equine's Horse Park.
