2024 American Quarter Horse Congress Queen Competition

Sidney Hawk, aka, 2024 Ohio Quarter Horse Queen was one of the 12 Queens from around the USA to run for the 2024 American Quarter Horse Congress Queen contest held in Columbus, Ohio, October 2024.

The following are pictures from the Queen Contest placings held at the end of the week. Each contestant was given a score based on about 1/3 from a written test questioning everything the contestant knew about the AQHA rules and events. A second percentage of the total score was based on a personal interview held by a panel of Officials from the AQHA. The last third of the scoring was a riding portion where Sidney did quite well and there is much more to hear about those details later on this page.

Here are pictures of Sidney's new friends... the 2024 American Quarter Horse Congress Queen Contestants during the Horsemanship portion of the contest

The actual American Quarter Horse Congress event itself is a near month long competition broke down into Reining, Pleasure, Carting and much more. It is arguably one of the biggest horse shows in the world. Here are pictures of Sidney's journey the week before the Queen Contest ranging from packing the truck and trailer, setting up the stall(s), prepping the horse and events themselves. Enjoy

Sidney was honored to stall with the Fritz and Katsy Leeman Performance Horses as well as Gia Ludwig and were so very kind to take her under their wing as mentors whenever possible. Sidney work at the Leeman Farm this summer while off from college. The tack stall itself was like a show room of amazing equipment.

Then there was the shopping and vendors set up at AQHA Congress... See if you can guess what caught my eye more than anything else there in the photos below.

More event pictures.... I can guarantee there will be representation of every Trail prop they had there showing up at Sidney Hawk Equine Confidence and Obstacle Course

The story I promised you... The Horsemanship portion of the competition for the AQHA Congress Queen competition would require a specific saddle we just don't own. This is not a discipline Sidney and TJ have a lot of experience in... so when it came to "looking the part," her reining saddle was just not going to show very well. In walks Miguel Aguilar a world-renowned saddle maker to save the day. He offered her one of his beautiful Horsemanship Saddles and Bridal. Sidney could not stop talking about what a great guy he was and how supportive he was of her goals.

Just a few more photos of preparation for the American Quarter Horse Congress Adventure. Including Sidney's custom golf cart for hauling her dad and many of the visitors to Sidney Hawk Equine at Hawk Farms.
